(A Causal Study of the Government Officials “Golongan III” in Agency for Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics)

ABSTRACT

This research aims to study the influence of organizational culture, power, team characteristic, and motivation on job performance of “Golongan III” government officials in Agency for Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) Headquarters in Jakarta. The study was performed using a survey method and path analysis technique. Ninety officials have been selected randomly as respondents. The results are as follows: (1) a positive direct influence of organizational culture on motivation; (2) a positive direct influence of power on motivation; (3) a positive direct influence on team characteristic on motivation; (4) positive direct influence of organizational culture on job performance; (5) a positive direct influence of team characteristic on job performance; and (6) a positive direct influence of motivation on job performance. The research concludes that improving organizational culture, power, and team characteristic will improve the motivation. Improving team characteristic and motivation will enhance the officials’ job performance. This research demonstrates the importance of managing organizational culture, power, team characteristic, and motivation in job performance enhancement.
